Tapak Suci of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) achieved the second Grand Champion of Airlangga Championship Tapak Suci National Open Cup 2015. Tapak Suci of UMY sent 22 athletes to join the competition conducted in 11-15 October at University of Airlangga. The team obtained 4 gold medals, 4 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals.
In an interview at office of Public Relations and Protocol on Friday (16/10), Chief of Tapak Suci of UMY Atok Susanto informed that the team joined 14 contest categories encompassing 9 battle categories and 5 art categories. Tapak Suci of UMY gained 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals, and 1 bronze medal for male battle category; 1 gold medal and 2 silver medals for male art category; 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal for female art category. “Alhamdulillah, we got gold, silver, and bronze medals for both categories,” he expressed.
The team has prepared physically and mentally for the competition since August. “We had physical exercise 6 times a week. We prepared both physically and mentally,” he stated.
Additionally, Tapak Suci of UMY has joined the contest since two years ago. The team had become the first Grand Champion in 2015 and the second Grand Champion in 2014. “This was the third time that we joined the competition. May Tapak Suci get the best in the competition and other national competitions for the next coming years,” he ended.
