MIP of UMY Fosters Internationalization Programs

Being established in 2011, Master of Governmental Studies (MIP) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) is attempting to foster the curriculum and to internationalize the master program in 2017. The target has begun through encouraging the students to join international conferences and cooperating with foreign universities in research collaboration, joint seminar, student mobility, and dual degree with Sun Moon University and Kon Khen University/

The aforementioned paragraph was uttered by Dr. Dyah Mutyarin, Head of Master of Governmental Studies of UMY, when welcoming a field trip of Governmental Studies of University of Lambung Mangkurat (UNLAM) Banjarmasin on Monday (12/10) at study hall of MIP UMY, Floor 2, Graduate School Building. Dyah mentioned programs of MIP of UMY like research, workshop of KPT, workshop of RPS, proposal clinic, scientific writing supervision, and others.

“The research is the semester program and is for lecturers of MIP of UMY. It is a research-based grant. The lecturers are encouraged to hand over a research proposal to UMY or Directorate General of Higher Education (DIKTI),” Dyah asserted. The lecturers were also always monitored when supervising students writing their thesis.

Moreover, to internationalize the master program, MIP of UMY collaborated with American Institute for Indonesian Studies (AIFIS) funding all scientific discussions organized by MIP of UMY. Students were also encouraged to join international conferences in UTM Malaysia, Khon Kaen University, Maejo University, and other foreign universities. MIP also accepted international students to study for a semester at MIP of UMY.

“MIP of UMY also cooperated with Jusuf Kalla School of Government in funding research for students of MIP of UMY. It is expected that the students’ research can be documented in a book or published in a journal,” she ended
