As a university with A-grade accreditation, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) received a delegation from Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Ar-Raniry Aceh. The visit that took place on Wednesday (14/08) in the AR Fakhrudin A building regarded a discussion of student activities and an offer for academic cooperation from UIN Ar-Raniry Aceh.

Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P, the Rector of UMY, greeted the delegation from UIN Ar-Raniry Aceh and stated that UMY is open for discussion regarding academic development. “We at UMY are open for discussion regarding student academic development and UMY, as well as discussion regarding academic cooperation between UIN Ar-Raniry Aceh and UMY”, Gunawan stated.

Then, Eko Priyo Purnomo, M.Si., M.Res., Ph.D, the head of UMY’s Cooperation and International Affairs Office, explained that there is a visiting fellowship program for lecturers from outside of UMY to teach in UMY. “UMY has 7 International classes, namely IPIREL for International Relations, IGOV for Governmental Studies, IPOLS for Legal Studies, IPIEF for Economic Science, IPACC for Accounting, IMaBS for Management Science, and IPICOM for Islamic Counseling Communication. Our international classes provide an opportunity for students to participate in exchange programs and invite lecturers from foreign universities to teach in our international classes. This is a form of cooperation between UMY and foreign university partners through MOU,” Eko stated.

The next topic that was explained was UMY’s academic activities such as a meetup among parents of new students as a start of communication and a media to introduce academic activities for new students, including class logins for parents. “This meetup session is a place for parents of new students to socialize and know about academic regulations, such as what the parents can access to observe their children’s scores during their academic year,” Eko added.

UIN Ar-Raniry Aceh’s Third Vice-Rector of Student Affairs and Relations, Dr. Saifullah, S.Ag., M.Ag stated that the visit to UMY is more than just for discussion, but also to continue academic cooperation. “We hope that this meeting is more than just a discussion, but so that we can continue our collaboration, such as collaborative research with UMY lecturers.
