Preparing National KRI, UMY Conducts a Hearing with Polda DIY

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) has been preparing for Indonesia Robot Contest (KRI). Besides internal preparation, UMY also undertook external preparation as having coordination with Polda DIY on Wednesday (6/5) in office of Polda DIY in Depok, Sleman. The coordination aimed at preparing and providing pleasure and safety for the participants, supporters, and community around UMY and DIY who are willing to see the contest on 11-14 June 2015.

Secretary of UMY Ir. Nafi Ananda Utama, M.S. on Thursday (7/5) told that his party had informed Polda DIY that UMY was selected by Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of DIKTI to organize National KRI. Even though it was not the first time for UMY to receive mandate from DIKTI, UMY believed that to save for hundreds of people across Indonesia needs the assistance and support of Polda DIY. “Therefore, we came to Polda DIY to cooperate and gain support of Polda DIY. It is hoped that the event would run well and safely,” he uttered.

Chief of National KRI Slamet Riyadi, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. informed that there would be 102 teams in the robot contest. Each team consists of three to five members and one supervisor. The teams come from higher education in Indonesia that they had won in regional KRI. “It is predicted that the number of participants is 380. The supporters might also be greater. Based on the previous experiences (PIMNAS and Komurindo), they always brought supporters so that the number of students coming to Jogja, particularly UMY, would be about 800 people,” he mentioned.

Hence, according to Slamet, UMY ought to coordinate with security team in DIY as Sector Police (Polsek) of Kasihan, Resort Police (Polres) of Bantul, Polda DIY, and firefighters of DIY. “Besides the enormous number of people comes to UMY and Jogja, in the opening of KRI, UMY would invite ministers, Sultan of DIY, regent of Bantul,” he asserted.

Moreover, Head of Public Relation of Polda DIY, Anny Pudhji Astitu, representing Wakapolda DIY warmly welcomed UMY teams, namely Ir. Nafi Ananda Utama, SlametRiyadi, ST., MT., Ph.D. (Head of National KRI), Agus Nugroho Setiawan, M.P (Chief II), Ir. Aris Widyo Nugroho, S.T., Ph.D (Person in Charge of Symposium Division), and Hijriyah Oktaviani, S.IP (a representative of Secretariat Division).Anny said that Polda DIY was ready to cooperate and pacify the event. “We expectthat the event would run well. We also wish that the situation would be conducive since Yogyakarta is an educational city. And, we, from Polda, is ready to secure it,” she emphasized on Wednesday (6/5).
