Hizbul Wathon (HW) Football School of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) becomes the runner up of a U-10 football championship, National Gerakan Emas Anak Sekolah (GAES) conducted in Bogor, Jawa Barat. In the final, the HW Football School of UMY was defeated by a host team, Citra Patrama Bogor.
Organized on 26-27 January 2019, 64 teams of 28 provinces joined the championship. Prior to the championship, the HW Football School of UMY achieved a cup of Head of RSPAU Hardjolukito as a series of the Regional GAES of Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY), winning over Baturetno Football School, Bantul, after a penalty shoot-out. Both teams passed to National GAES representing DIY.
A U-10 coach of the HW Football School of UMY Fendy Fengky Bamar O., S.Pd. told that the achievement was a result of the team’s endeavor. “I hope that the HW Football School of UMY can be better and accept many students. We can also synergize and help one another,” he expected.
The National GAES aimed to mold the children’s mental so that they can be tough in joining competitions. The young generation of the HW of UMY is expected to be professional football players and make the HW Football School proud. For instance, Rangga Muslim was trained at the school and successfully brought Persebaya and PSS won in Indonesian League 2 in two consecutive years. “We have children at certain ages to be professional players,” informed a U-8 coach of the HW Football School of UMY Nur Rohman Alwi.
