Daily Advisor Board (BPH) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) has a program for the development of UMY’s lecturers and staffs in Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan (AIK). Actualizing the program, BPH UMY launched a book of Pedoman Hidup Islami (PHI) for the academicians on Tuesday afternoon (7/7) at meeting hall of A.R. Fachruddin B, Floor 5. The book launching was conducted along with Pengajian Ramadhan for lecturers and staffs of UMY.
Pedoman Hidup Islami Warga Muhammadiyah (Islamic life guidance of Muhammadiyah) is Islamic values and norms based on Al-Qur’an and sunnah to behave and live their life so that Islamic community will truly exist. Head of BPH UMY Prof. Dr. H. Syamsul Anwar stated that “The book was written due to awareness of being Muhammadiyah charity efforts that UMY should be able to become one of the charity efforts and organization missionary media to uphold Islam.”
Syamsul inserted, “The book is in line with Pedoman Hidup Islami Warga Muhammadiyah (PHIWM) on the decree of the 44th Muhammadiyah Congress, yet there are several addition adjusted with life at UMY.”
The publication of PHI for UMY’s academicians was also supported by the center of Muhammadiyah. Chairman of Muhammadiyah Dr. H. Haedar Nashir, M.Si. uttered, “PP Muhammadiyah encourage the publication and socialization of PHIWM for UMY’s academicians. It is expected to emerge internalization and socialization of Islamic values believed by MMuhammadiyah in themselves.”
The values written on the book is expected to become organization culture for all academicians of UMY. Rector of UMY Prof. Dr. Bamabang Cipto, M.A. conveyed that “The values ought to be applied in the process of university services. I wish that lecturers can integrate the values in education, research, and community service, particularly in teaching and learning process.”
