PKBH of UMY Conducts KLIMAKUM

Law often functions to ensure that each subject receives justice in cases they confront. Thus, Lembaga Bantuan Hukum (LBH-Legal Aid Office) always seeks to assist legal subjects that are unable to fight for their rights. Pusat Konsultasi dan Bantuan Hukum (PKBH-Center for Legal Consultation and Aids) as LBH affiliated to Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) conducted Klinik Kemahiran Hukum (KLIMAKUM-Legal Skill Clinic) of Batch II to enhance students’ competence in upholding justice. It was conducted on Saturday and Sunday (15-16/12) at UMY.

Head of PKBH of UMY Muhammad Annas, S.H., M.H. stated that the PKBH of UMY servers to uphold law and performs academic functions. “Law principles are ‘equality before the law’ and providing understanding of law for public, particularly students of Faculty of Law of UMY. The KLIMAKUM aims to giving students training in legal aids engaging experienced legal practitioners,” he declared.

“The program is expected to create an effective instrument to achieve a vision of the legal aids, to help people to fight for their rights,” added Annas.

Additionally, the KLIMAKUM is one of the requirements for the students interested in being volunteers, interns, and advocates at the PKBH of UMY.

30 students attended the KLIMAKU whose speakers were Head of Criminal Division of Bantul Attorney Sabar Sutrisno, S.H., a legal expert Dr. Drs. Muhammad Khambali, S.H., M.H., and a lecturer at Master’s Program of Law of UMY Dr. Danang Wahyu Muhammad, S.H., M.Hum.
