UMY Contributes to the Establishment of a Muhammadiyah Campground

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), one of the Muhammdiyah-affiliated institutions contributed to the establishment of a Muhammadiyah campground “Wiworojati” located in Tlukan, Gonjen Tamantirto, Kasihan, Bantul. The area is 3,000 m2, and it was officially announced by Rector of UMY, Prof. Bambang Cipto on Saturday afternoon (19/12).

The campground is expected to optimize Muhammadiyah’s potentials and to become a forum to broaden Islamic studies. Head of Human Resource Affairs as well as chairperson of Muhammadiyah of DIY Drs. Gita Danupranata, M.M. stated, “I wish that the campground can be utilized by Muhammadiyah youth to various positive activities to foster Muhammdiyah. For your information, the campground is the first Muhammadiyah campground.”

Gira inserted that the campground would be developed to be outbound area. “The campground facilities were ten toilets, a well, a 60-meter pipe, and electrical power,” he mentioned.

Furthermore, Prof. Bambang hoped that all students of Muhammadiyah-affiliated institutions from elementary school to higher education can use the campground. The students are expected to grow more disciplined, independent, and innovative in conducted any event and in their daily life. “May the establishment of the campground become valuable for Muhammadiyah, and I invite all people to preserve this campground in order to remain clean and beautiful,” he declared.

Additionally, the campground so-called Wiworojati means a noble place to find self-identity. The campground later will be managed by cadres of Hizbul Wathan under control of Muhammadiyah of Kasihan.
