UMY Becomes the Host of Ners Vaganza 2017

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) became the host of Ners Vaganza 2017. Vice Dean of Medical and Health Science Faculty of UMY dr. M. Kurniawan, M.Sc. officially open the competition on Friday (24/2). He expected that the Ners Vaganza could run well and the participants could be sportive.

“I would like to welcome all the participants of Ners Vaganza. Enjoy the competition. For the next three days, I hope that there would not any serious barrier during this competition,” he stated.

The Ners Vaganza was an annual The Ners Vahanza was an annual event organized by Indonesian Nursing Student Association (ILMIKI). This year, the competition was conducted under the theme of “Holistic Care as a Nurse Based Practice.” 13 institutions from three areas of the ILMIKI would compete in skill competition and English debate. The 13 institutions had won the 1st – 3rd place of Ners Vaganza in their own region.

They were University of Indonesia, University of Padjajaran, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, Stikes Faletehan Cilegon Banten, University of Gadjah Mada, University of Diponegoro, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Stikes Jend. Achmad Yani, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Jember, Stikes Wiramedika PPNI Bali, and Stikes Bina Husada Bali.

Additionally, Head of Indonesia Nursing Association (PPNI) for Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) Tri Prabowo, S.Kp., M.Sc. declared, “This competition is essential to interweave good relationship among Indonesian nurses and to equalize their competitiveness.”

He wished that the participants could enhance their skills and build good attitudes. “Indeed, what the entire world has been concerned is that nurses nowadays behave poorly. Several individuals show bad attitudes. Hence, I expect that this competition could build nurses’ good attitudes,” he hoped.
