ITS Wins Indonesia ABU Robot Contest (KRAI) After Participating in KRI Three Times

Indonesia ABU Robot Contest (KRAI) 2018 officially ended. 24 teams from various universities in Indonesia strove to win the contest. However, only the best team could be the winner.

Dr. Ir. Wahidin Wahab as a chief of the jury in National Indonesia Robot Contest (KRI) 2018 expressed his gratitude and pride for witnessing great performance of robots by Indonesian generation. “All the teams has passed such long processes, starting from conducting research, practicing regularly, having a robot checking and running test, to competing in the KRI 2018. During the processes, they must have confronted difficulties demanding them to remain and disciplined,” he declared in an interview on Friday (13/7) at Sportorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).

Wahidin further added that Indonesia ABU Robot Contest ran very well from the beginning without significant trouble. There was only a technical problem as a minor breakage on the field. “Additionally, RIVER from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS) wins the first place of the KRAI that their robot reached the Rong Bay only with 30 seconds only. The first runner-up of KRAI is achieved by Barelang 5.8 from Politeknik Negeri Batam with the score 12 points. The second runner-up is EII_TORO from Universitas Dian Nuswantoro that reached the Rong Bay in 47 seconds. The third runner-up is EL-FORZA 18 from Politeknik Negeri Jakarta. Therefore, RIVER team from ITS as the first winner deserves to represent Indonesia in International Robot Contest that will be conducted in Vietnam” he mentioned.

Similarly, Edo Kesuma as a captain of the RIVER delivered his gratefulness to be the first winner. “High appreciation goes to all participating teams. We all have gone through thin and tick during the preparation. I hope that our struggles may become precious experiences for all of us, particularly our team. We did our best to prepare for the robots, starting from finishing the robot to adjusting the field setting to the program,” he said.

He also added that they feel so honored to be assigned to represent Indonesia in the upcoming international robot contest held on August. “Indeed, in the next several months we will do a lot of preparation, especially upgrading the robots. Hence, I wish the support from all the parties so that we can make it in the international contest as Indonesian delegates. To all the teams that have not passed yet, please do not give up, do practice regularly and remain solid. Last but not least, I would like to thank all the parties involved in the KRI 2018, especially for UMY that accommodates this event and gives the best services,” he expressed.
