Four Teams of UMY Are Ready to Compete in PIMNAS 2017

Four teams of Student Creativity Program (PKM) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) comprising of 30 students are ready to compete in the 30th PIMNAS conducted at Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) Makassar on 23-28 August 2017. Head of Student and Alumni Development Agency (LPKA) of UMY Sugito, S.IP, M.Si. informed that the four teams are included in 45 teams funded by Dikti (Directorate General of Higher Education).

In the speech of UMY in the departure of UMY team to PIMNAS 30 at Lobby of Rectorate on Tuesday (22/8), Sugito mentioned that the four teams joined PKM-KC (Copyright Works) (PKM-KC). First, ELSTOR team creates Piezoelectric-based electricity generator. Second, PTS Siluman (Detection) team coins a prototype of an unmanned surface vessel functioning as illegal fishing detector in Indonesian waters. Third, a SBARED team makes smart arm bed for decubitus sufferers. Fourtht, REDEMPTION team designs report data energy using smart terminal and mobile.

“We proud of these four teams since they could pass to PIMNAS with high scores. UMY achieved an award of Green Campus and the ELSTOR is renewable energy. Thus, if we used the product, 300 stairs at this university can already have turned on 8-9 electronics. Besides, illegal fishing in Indonesian waters underlain the making of the PTS Siluman, an unmanned surface vessel being able to respond voices. Then, the SBARED innovates a bed for decubitus sufferers whose skin look red due to pressure or friction between skin and a bed for long time. Last, REDEMPTION coins renewable energy since the team would like to support government’s campaign,” explained Sugito. Sugito also expected that the teams can obtained medals as UMY’s tradition in joining PIMNAS.

Furthermore, Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto wish that the teams could gain more than one medal. Not even one medal expected by UMY Rector to be taken home by PKM UMY team. “I highly appreciate students’ and supervisors’ endeavor. I hope that UMY’s flag flutters in PIMNAS 30 and these four teams could achieve gold medals,” he declared.

Gunawan also advised the team to dare to uphold their principles. “My concern is how you can maintain the principles that you have prepared. I believe that your courage to defend your principles rationally will lead you to be the winner. Hence, you can make a history for the next generation,” he emphasized.
