Amcor UMY Callaborating with EducationUSA Encourages UMY’s Students to Study in the US

American Corner (Amcor) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) conducted a sharing session on the ‘Study in the US’ at amphitheater of E6, Building of K.H. Ibrahim on Tuesday (14/3). The sharing session aimed at providing UMY’s students information of how to study in the United States (US).

EducationUSA is a U.S. Department of State network of over 400 international advising centers in more than 170 countries. All the services provided by EducationUSA are free. In Indonesia, it is available in several big cities such as Jakarta, Surabaya, Banda Aceh, Medan, Malang, and Makassar.

An EducationUSA advisor Fina Alatas stated that EducationUSA offers accurate, comprehensive, and current information about how to study at accredited postsecondary education institutions in the US.

EducationUSA also affords information about culture and living allowance in the USA. “We provide services to prospective students dealing with student recruitments, tuition fee, living allowance, visa, and pre-departure preparation,” mentioned Fina.

Besides, a Cultural Attaché of the US Embassy in Jakarta Karen Schinnerer told that the US welcomes Indonesian to pursue their study and or to join a student exchange in the US. “Our data show that the number of international students in the US is over one million students that more than 8,000 are Indonesian students,” asserted Karen.

She added, “The US becomes a country to study since the US universities are more prestigious and in top ranks. The other reasons are due to the study programs, offering experience of living in diversity, and professional work syste.”
