A student of International Program of International Relations of Universitas Muhammmadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) of batch 2014 Muhammad Rizal Saanun was selected as Secretary General of Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYIMUN) 2017.

In an interview on Monday (2/10), Rizal told that he was mandated to be the secretary general by President of Indonesia Global Network Muhammad Fahrizal. “Indonesia Global Network team conducted several administration selection procedures,” he said.

The AYIMUN 2017 will be conducted on 3-6 November 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with “Enhancing Global Power through Diplomacy and Regional Integration” as the theme.

In the end of the interview, Rizal advised freshmen to focus on what they like. “I encourage all freshmen of UMY to never stop boosting their capability, to keep learning, and to always be cheerful since we have to believe that everyone will get success from their endeavor,” he asserted.

Besides being the secretary general fog the AYIMUN, Rizal gained various achievements such as the Delegate of Bali Democracy Forum Model UN 2017, the Best Delegate of Little Circle Foundation Bali International Model United Nations (LCF BIMUN) 2017, the Most Outstanding Delegate JAVA Model United Nations (JAVA MUN) 2017, and the Delegate of National Fellowship Camp 2017 by Merit Indonesia for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2017.

Indeed, he is also active in joining many organization in and outside UMY such as Indonesia Global Network, ASEAN Youth Leaders Association (AYLA) Chapter Indonesia, Student English Activity of UMY, Student Executive Board of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences of UMY, UMY Model United Nations, Sahabat Beasiswa Chapter Yogyakarta, Youth Interfaith Peacemaker Community Chapter Yogyakarta, and Forum Anak Daerah Kayu Putih (FANDKIP).
