24 Teams of KRAI Pass Robot Checking

D-1 of Indonesia Robot Contest (KRI) 2018 was a chance for all participants, including participants of Indonesia ABU Robot Contest (KRAI) to have a running test. Previously, all the participants attended a technical meeting and had holistic robot checking by the KRI committee.

The checking aimed to find out whether or not the robot qualifications were in accordance with rules and regulations determined by the KRI committee. Robots complied with the qualifications deserved to compete at the KRI. Robots from UGM and UNY were almost not allowed to join the competition since their robots did not meet determined qualifications.

A programmer of HEROES team from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Tri Wahyu Utomo revealed that the robot dimension excessed 5 millimeters from the determined size which is 1 meter. “However, we cut and adjusted the robot component according to the rules and regulations. In the running test, we also faced some obstacles because the field condition is different from the one that we used for a regular simulation on our university which is actually in line with the old KRI regulations. Therefore we need to reprogram the robot with the newest regulations. Besides, our team is still working on the robot stick control so that we can perform our best in the match. Overall, our readiness is about 80% and we are still checking the robot regularly and intensively,” he explained in an interview on Wednesday (11/7) at Sportorium of UMY.

Meanwhile, a representative of MAESTRO_EVO from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta (UNY) Yunus Karsiana told, “When we had robot checking, we almost got a trouble because our robot component excessed 2 cm from the rules and regulations. Afterwards, we immediately cut the excessing part so that we were allowed to continue and compete in the match. Alhamdulillah, the running test went smoothly without so many troubles and we could the Rong Bay in 0.50 second and became the fastest team. We hope the contest run as planned and we can make our university proud,” he said.
