Nursing Students of UMY Go to National Ners Vaganza

Nursing students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) became the first runner up of English debate and the second runner up of skill competition at Ners Vaganza og Region IV at University of Sultan Agung, Semarang, on January 20-21, 2017. They also passes to National Ners Vaganza 2017 which will be conducted at UMY on February 24-26, 2017. The students joining the English debate were Savira Mulya Dewi (batch 2015), Fathiyyah Intan Niryani (batch 2013), Novita Nur Hasanah (batch 2013), while who participated in the skill competition were Bikassari Wahy Proboningrum (batch 2015), Farhah Kamilah (batch 2014), and Maulin Halimatunnisa (batch 2013).

The Ners Vahanza was an annual event organized by Indonesian Nursing Student Association (ILMIKI) consisting seven regions, and Department of Nursing of UMY is included in Region IV comprising universities in Yogyakarta and Central Java.

In an interview on (9/2), one of the team supervisors Iwan expressed, “Alhamdulillah, we could win the competitions and pass to the National Ners Vaganza.”

He expected that the achievement could bring positive impacts and inspire other nursing students.  “I encourage other students to join regional or national competitions held at UMY or outside UMY. Joining the competitions will enhance students’ competitiveness, will enable students to measure their capability, and will promote the department,” he mentioned.

“The teams are now preparing for the National Ners Vaganza 2017. Each team is supervised by several lecturers. Having an occasion to be the host motivates us to be the winner,” he told.
