UMY Wins Best Private University Award According to 4ICU Uni-Rank

At the beginning of June 2020, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) won another proud achievement. UMY was ranked first as the best private tertiary institution in Yogyakarta Special Region and also ranked second as the best national private tertiary institution. This achievement is the result of a survey conducted by 4ICU Uni-Rank.

Uni-Rank is a ranking body that aims to give a global ranking of universities based on the popularity of the university’s official website in terms of traffic, trust, and the popularity of high-quality links. There are 571 higher education institutions in Indonesia that were scored by Uni-Rank. All  institutions must meet several criteria, including accreditation by the government (KEMRISTEKDIKTI), hold three levels of education, namely bachelor, master, and doctoral, and have a varied learning process.

When met by the UMY Office of Public Relations on Wednesday (3/6), Rector of UMY, Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto., MP, IPM said that the ranking conducted by the Union-Rank was a manifestation of the 4.0 industrial revolution era where almost everything could be done online with the internet. “Overall, the popularity of a college website can be an indicator to see how much the college can optimize the internet and the abundance of internet access,” he said.

According to Gunawan, aside from the availability of public information about universities and academic needs such as journals, the use of UMY online learning activities which have increased by 460% during the policy of conducting distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic became one of the complementary factors for UMY’s success in entering the era of the 4.0 industrial revolution and won them this achievement. “This ranking can be a motivation for universities to further improve their quality in order to maintain public trust and academics,” he concluded.
