UMY Serves: UMY Distributes Logistics Package for Students, Society, and Media Partners

The development of the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia which has not shown a significant decline and the implementation of Large Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB), makes most people unable to carry out their normal daily activities. This also has an impact on the Indonesian economy, especially for daily laborers who cannot do their work at home.

Inspired by UMY’s concern for students and surrounding communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, various university activities and funding are directed to be able to ease the burden on students and the community during this pandemic. With the slogan of UMY Serves, at the end of March, UMY decided to provide an internet quota subsidy for students with a sum of Rp 150,000 / semester for 3 semesters. This subsidy is given to students in the form of a reduction in tuition fees in the Odd Semester of 2020/2021.

In addition to the internet subsidy assistance, thousands of UMY students have also received logistical support in the form of food, masks and hand sanitizers. This assistance was provided using a drive-thru system so that the committee and students remained safe. During Ramadhan 1441 H, UMY provided meal packages for students to break their fast with which reached 1400-1600 packages every day. The meal and breakfast package is also intended for UMY employees who are still working during the pandemic.

Before the Eid holiday, UMY Serves held a Media Gathering as a gathering event for media partners who had been helping UMY to promote UMY through printed and online media. In this Media Gathering event, UMY Serves distributed a number of parcels and food packages for journalists and media colleagues through university leaders.

The UMY Serves programs are expected to help all components related to UMY to survive in the midst of these unfavorable conditions and situations.
