UMY Nursing Graduate Program Opened Foreign Clinic Batch 9

41 Graduate students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta’s Nursing Program started their practice in clinics spread in four countries and five universities, namely the Khon Kaen University Thailand, Guang Xi Medical University China, Asia University and Changhua Christian Hospital Taiwan, as well as International Islamic University Malaysia. The international clinic practice program for the Graduate Nursing Studies is an annual program, and this year marks the ninth time the program has been opened.

During the ceremony to mark the start of the program on Wednesday (25/8), the Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P., stated the importance of good service in the world of health and medicine. The Rector also thanked the students who participated in this program and expressed his hope that the students can open their minds to the advances in education, especially in nursing. “This program is a routine program opened every year by the Graduate Nursing program. It centers on the world of health and medicine, the importance of good service and proper medical treatments. With this program, students can open their minds to advances in nursing education, something that continues to develop, especially on service,” he stated.

A similar notion was given by Fitri Arofiati, S.Kep., Ns., MAN., Ph.D as the head of the Graduate Nursing Program in her opening statements that stated how the program aims to help the students learn and understand the health system and learning methods from other universities. “This is an annual program, and this year marks its ninth iteration. With this program, we hope that students can learn and understand the health system not taught in UMY and in the universities where they will be sent to,” she stated.

Fitri also added that this program is a part of an attempt to realize UMY’s vision and mission regarding program internationalization. Students who participate in this program is hoped to have learned new knowledge when they come back, and contribute to the development of the institution and the program. (sofia)
