400 PKM Teams Are Ready for the Battle in the 25th PIMNAS in UMY

400 PKM (Student Creativity Program) teams officially listed by Directorate General of Higher Education of Ministery of Education of Indonesian Republic (DIKTI) were ready to compete in the 25th National Student Science Week (PIMNAS) on July 9-14, 2012 in Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) as announced in DIKTI decree Number 43/DIKTI/Kep/2012. Thus Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, Ph.D, the Person in Charge and the Vice Rector III of UMY, said after the PIMNAS preparation meeting in UMY Integrated Campus on Thursday (6/21).

Rosyidi further explained that of the 400 teams officially registered, 69 were Entrepreneurship PKMs, 69 were Karsa Cipta (Will & Idea) PKMs, 92 were Community Service PKMs, 90 were Research PKMs, 70 wee Technology Application PKMs, and 10 were Written Idea PKMs. He added, “Those PIMNAS PKM teams are from various universities in Indonesia and have been selected by DIKTI.”

At the same time, the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the 25th PIMNAS,  Drs. Husni Amriyanto, M.Si, stated that 400 teams meant there were about 2000 students participating and most of them were not from Yogyakarta. Amriyanto explained, “To facilitate the participants from outside Yogyakarta, several information stands will be constructed in among others, Tugu Train Station, Lempuyangan Train Station, Giwangan Bus Station, Jombor Bus Station, and Adisutjipto Airport. Several LOs (Liaison Officers) will be assigned in each stand and they are assigned to take the participant to the available lodgings.”

Amriyanto added that the committee had prepared several lodgings for the participants such as the UMY University Residence (UNIRES), Hajj Dormitory, MMTC Hostel, Somaya Hotel, and Wisanti Hotel. He said, “While for the judges, we provide Yogyakarta All Season Hotel and buses for the transportation during PIMNAS.”

Amriyanto revealed that as the participants arrived at Yogyakarta, they would join several activities starting from the carnival from Malioboro to North Alun-Alun on July 9 followed by welcoming dinner with Sultan Hamengkubuwono X in Pagelaran of Yogyakarta Palace.  He asserted, “The next day, the participants should attend the opening ceremony where the Minister of National Education will open the PIMNAS in Sportorium building of UMY Intergrated Campus.”

“After the PIMNAS opening ceremony, participants will deliver their presentations and there will also be MSME exhibition, PIMNAS bazaar, Non-PKM competitions followed by announcement of the winners to close the 25th PIMNAS” thus Amritanto stated.

With the entire preparation, UMY as the host expects that this PIMNAS will be successful so that it can create an innovative generation to build a nation with independent character.
