UMY’s Alumni Achieving the LPDP Scholarships Conduct a Sharing Session

Many Indonesia students expect to achieve the Indonesian Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) scholarships. To obtain the scholarships, LPDP awardees associated in Komunitas LPDP UMY (LPDP Community of UMY) who are alumni of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) assist students and other alumni of UMY  by conducting ‘Sarasehan Awardee UMY #2’.

Held on Saturday (25/2) at meeting hall of A.R. Fachruddin A, floor 5, there were eight LPDP awardees, namely Idham Badruzaman, Sanya Pestari, Akhmad Rifky, Anjani Tri, Akhmad Zulfikar, Dina, Aditya Maulana, and Lucitania Rizki.

Chief of the community 2017-2018 Akhmad Rifky, S.IP. stated that the sharing session was one of the contributions of the LPDP awardees who are the alumni of UMY. “There are 20 alumni of UMY obtaining the scholarships, both who have accomplished their study and who are now is studying as well as who will study. We hope that the number of awardees from UMY will reach thousands in the next two or three years,” Akhmad wished.

Akhmad, an International Relations alumnus of UMY mentioned a number of preparations of students for applying the LPDP scholarships. “You should prepare from now on since the competition at the LPDP now is getting tougher than the time when we applied. In 2017, there are several new requirements so that you have to be able to enhance your capabilities,” he emphasized.

Akhmad contended that, as UMY’s tagline ‘Muda Mendunia’ (Young and Global), graduates of UMY should be able to contribute to Indonesia and this world. “What you have prepares is not only your GPA (Grade Point Average), but also your mentality and characteristics because the selectors look at the aspects. You have to focus on not only intellectual but also emotional aspects,” Akhmad.

Additionally, the Sarasehan Awardee UMY #2 comprised of several sessions, namely a sharing session, a parallel class session, and a panel session. Akhmad also informed that most of UMY’s alumni achieving the LPDP scholarships purse their study in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, while the target universities of the awardees in Indonesia are University of Indonesia and University of Gadjah Mada.
