Head of BSI Eko Prasetyo, S.T., M.Eng. stated that the e-learning and blog training should be a new step to expand e-learning culture among academicians of UMY. “We assumed that providing the training to lecturers will enable them to apply the e-learning system in learning process. For instance, lecturers can upload summary of their class materials or students’ assignments, and they can also require students to upload their assignment on the blog. Hence, the use of e-learning and blog among UMY academicians will be fostered,” explained Eko, who is a lecturer of Department of Information Technology.

Eko emphasized that the number of e-learning and blog users will enhance the accreditation. “If 10,000 of 19,000 students of UMY actively use the e-learning or blog, there will be 10,000 pages a week. The number will contribute to increase the accreditation score since 4ICU accreditation also assess how many pages are updated on the blog,” he mentioned.

Eko added that the lecturers should commence to use the e-learning system, and they would be monitored by other lecturers who have been actively employed the e-learning. He also informed that UMY’s staffs will also be trained and required to use the e-learning system as well.
