A number of students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) associated in hammock production. They began to promote their product to travelers and nature lovers. Their product was tents so-called ‘Hammock Akiramata’. The hammocks were different from other hammock since the Hammock Akiramata pioneered a ring to connect and substitute the use of noose.
A student of International Relations of UMY of batch 2009 as well as a manager of the Hammock Akiramata Nurul Ilmi informed that the products will be acquainted to travelers and nature lovers in Family Gathering and Hammock Camp I. The event was conducted on Saturday and Sunday (28-29/11) in Pine Forest, Imogiri. There will be 70 participants comprising travelers, nature lovers, and several suppliers of the Hammock Akiramata in various areas in Indonesia. “The event aims at introducing further the strengths of the Hammock Akiramata to public, particularly travelers and nature lovers. It also points at promoting new products of the Hammock Akiramata,” she stated in an interview on Friday (27/11).
Ilmi argued that the use of the hammock will be beneficial for travelers and nature lovers when traveling. “They commonly bring a tent having heavy weight. The Hammock Akiramata attempts to ease them that there are various tend easily to bring,” she told.
Furthermore, a Management student of UMY of batch 2008 as well as the pioneer and the owner of the Hammock Akiramata Singgih Ainin Muttaqin contended that the use of a tent to outdoor events is less efficient, especially when rainy season and due to the weight. “It is hard to put tightening key when raining. A tent is easily wet and humid when raining. A small or medium tent weight is about 3-4 kilograms. Thus, I start the idea to use hammock to having a camp,” he asserted.
Singgih mentioned the advantages of the Hammock Akiramata. It can minimize the weight during camping since it weighs only 700 grams but the capacity is 350 kilograms. “The hammock can become a solution to avoid a wet or humid tent when raining because it is complemented by flysheet or a tent cover. We will also produce the combination between hammock and flysheet. The flysheet will no longer be separated from the hammock,” he informed.
Singgih inserted that, besides the hammock can be hung on two or three trees, it can be hung on mountain side by nailing it. “We also employed ring to replace the noose of the hammock since if the hammock was bound by know, it will be hard to be undone and the load must be heavier. The ring of the hammock will stop the water flow from the rope stuck on the trees. Even though it is raining, it will not be wet. Therefore, we would like to promote this product to travelers and nature lovers so that they will not longer bring a heavy tent and get difficulty when raining,” he added.
Sinngih maintained that the Hammock Akiramata varies like hammock with net for dry season, hammock polar for replacing the use of sleeping bad, and the new hammock for replacing the use of a tend complemented by flysheet.
Additionally, there will be a film review in the event. It will review ‘Everest’ with Iwan Kweceng, a climber of 7 Indonesian summiteers. The family gathering will be enlivened by 200 guests from DIY nature lovers community. The event was also supported by Eiger, UMY, Jogjakarta Land Rover Community, Planet Adventure, Komet Adventure, OBKA, CK Bandana, Jangkar Camp, Top Target, Medical Aid Team, Secangkir Senja, and T-Shirt Pejalan.
