Journal of Media Law of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) was granted ‘B’ by Directorate General of Research Empowerment and Development, Ministry of Research and Technology of Higher Education (Kemenristek Dikti). It was based on the result of Periodical Accreditation of Printed Journal of Period I/2006 on 14 July 2016 and Decree f Directorate General of Research Empowerment and Development, Ministry of Research and Technology of Higher Education Nomor 36a/E/KPT/2016 on 23 May 2016.

Mukti Fajar Nur Dewata, Dr. H., S.H., M.Hum., chairman of Journal of Media Law of UMY told that it was the fourth accreditation by Kemenristek after 2009,2012, and 2015.

Journal of Media Law is a periodical journal published by Faculty of Law of UMY in Junes and Decembers. The accreditation was based on the journal quality.

Mukti mentioned five criteria to determine the journal quality, namely the journal publishing, writing quality, management of the journal team, partnership selecting whether the journal is worth to publish, and documentation. “The Journal of Media Law has met the criteria. Once the journal is published, there are 10-12 articles and there are more than 20 partners across Indoensia,” he stated.

Mukti was grateful for the achievement, and his team and he will attempt to achieve ‘A’ accreditation. “The journal team confront several barriers such as untidy document and slow review by the partners,” he conveyed.

He expected that the journal will gain ‘A’ accreditation and will be included in International Journal Index. To achieve it, the policy and facilities should be fostered. “Journal management of each higher education institution has not been prioritized yet. I wish that the journal management can be the priority since it can be higher education publication achievement,” he ended.
