International Students of Fatih Sultan Mahmed School of Istanbul Visited UMY

Universitas Muhammadiah Yogyakarta (UMY) was visited by students of International Fatih Sultan Mahmed School, Istanbul, Turkey and the other teachers from Madrasah Mualimin Yogyakarta.  The visit was held in rectorate building UMY (22/1), and the delegation was joined by 2 teachers and 8 students coming from not only Turkey but also Albania and Egypt. The occasion was opened by the rector of UMY, Dr Ir Gunawan Budiyanto, MP and continued with the presentation and socialization of study fields in UMY by Yordan Gunawan, S.H., int. MBA, M.H, Director of International Affairs, International Relationship Office (IRO) UMY.

Dr Ir Gunawan Budiyanto MP welcomed their arrival in this youth and global campus enthusiastically.  Gunawan explained about study field and interest of foreign students in UMY and said that there were also Turkey students studying in UMY. “We would like to say welcome to all students and teachers from International Fatih Sultan Mahmed School. We are very proud to have you here and we also have students from Turkey taking English Education. We hope that later there will be more students from Turkey to study here,” he declared.

Mahmud Celep, the vice principle of International Fatih Sultan Mahmed School expressed his gratitude to be able to visit UMY. He also said that there are eight Indonesian students studying in their school. “It’s such an honor for us to be here where we know that there are Turkey’s students here. I also expect that after this program our students are interested to study here. In our school, we also have eight students from Indonesia. We hope there will be more Indonesian students,’’ told Mahmud.

Ali Aulia, Lc. M. Hum, the director of Mualimin Yogyakarta and lecturer of communication study UMY also claim that International Fatih Sultan Mahmed School has done students’ exchange with Madrasah Mualimin Yogyakarta. The program conducted has sent students of International Fatih Sultan Mahmed School started in January 18 – February 2, 2018 “Actually, we have already delegated students accompanied by teachers and today is their return visit. This is called as sister school program from Mualimmin Yogyakarta. One of the activities during this program is visiting UMY to introduce this campus to students of Turkey. Who knows there will be students of Turkey interested in studying in UMY,” Ali explained
