Four Korean Students Are Impressed by the Summer School at UMY

Four students of Daegu Health College (DHC), Republic of Korea, joined Renewable Energy Summer School (RESS) for a week (9-16/8). They were impressed by the summer school. It showed the aims of the summer school to enhance not only knowledge but also culture of the host country was successfully achieved.

Hyung Soo Li, a student of Clinical Pathology of DHC, stated, “The programs were amazing. During my stay in Indonesia, I could taste various Indonesia foods. It was too sad that the summer school was only a few days.”

The summer school comprised of class activities and practices such as presentation. In the farewell party, participants presented cultural performances of Republic of Korea and Indonesia.

Besides, Kim Min Ji, a student of Radiology of DHC, was interested in Indonesian culture learned during the summer school. “The participants could share their home culture in the presentation sessions,” Kim Min Ji told.

She became the winner of the presentation session. She said that she confronted culture shock when she arrived. She recommended that participants of the next summer school can be from various countries.

A student of Radiology Kim Soo Yoen and a student of Occupational Teraphy Hye Jin Lee said that the summer school was different from other summer schools that they had joined. “It was a great occasion for me to know Indonesian culture further, to comprehend disaster management, and join instructive programs,” Kim Soo Yoen asserted.

They were impressed by nature and tourism places in Yogyakarta. “When I visited several tourism places in Yogyakarta and see beautiful sceneries, I realized that I can be happy without internet connection. The farewell party was the most unforgettable moment and made me want to live in Indonesia,” Hye Jin Lee expressed.
