Faculty of Law of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), collaborating with Nagoya University of Japan, conducted a public lecture on Friday (15/3) at Hall of Faculty of Law Building of UMY. The lecture was a response of the Nagoya University to UMY’s visit.

Dr. Mukti Fajar N.D., S.H., M.Hum. informed, “Faculty of Law and Master’s Program of Law of UMY have cooperated with GSID (Graduate School of International Development) of Nagoya University. Initially, they invited me to deliver a public lecture at Nagoya University on 23 September 2018 which was attended by master’s students, researchers, and professors. I talked about Distribution Innovation in Competition Law.”

Mukti added, “The material I delivered in the public lecture is related to Distribution Innovation, particularly in field of online transportation. The problem of online transportation becomes a polemic not only in Indonesia, but also in Japan, Europe, and the United States. Every country must have difficulty regulate their application-based online transportation. This discussion is appealing if we present comparison of rule of law in Indonesia and Japan.”

Moreover, a lecturer of Faculty of Law of UMY Nanik Prasetyoningsih, S.H., M.H. stated, “This is a visit from Nagoya University to organize a public lecture at the Faculty of Law of UMY. UMY and Nagoya University have signed a memorandum of understanding.”

Nanik also helped Prof. Yuzuru Shimada to explain his presentation. “Prof. Yuzuru presented a Japanese constitutionalism system and administrative structure. The first explanation focused on constitution of Japan. He compared constitution between Japan and Indonesia. In Japan, the amendment of constitution only occurred once. The first constitution was in 1889 with a monarchy system. The second constitution was in 1947 after Japan was defeated by the United States in the Second World War. Afterwards, Japan revamped its constitution into a constitutional monarchy system,” she ended.
