After having running test, Indonesia Soccer Robot Contest (KRSBI) 2015 had qualification round on Saturday (13/6) at Sportorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yoyyakarta (UMY).

12 teams of KRSBI were divided into four groups competing in three qualification rounds. Each game took 2 x 10 minutes. In the first round there were four matches: Ichiro (Sepuluh November Institute of Technology) 1-0 Barelang FC (Politeknik Negeri Batam), R2C-R9 (Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana Salatiga) 1-0 The Patriot V.2 (Universitas Kristen Marantha), Dago Hoogeschool (Bandung Institute of Technology) 0-0 Alfarobi (Gadjah Mada University), Eros (Politeknik Negeri Surabaya) 2-0 Krakatau (STMIK Teknokrat Bandar Lampung).

As the real game, the winner of KRSI was based on the greatest score. Each team might have 3 to 5 robots in a match. The robots were set to detect an orange ball. After finding the ball, the robots would attempt to look for where the goal using yellow indicator and kick the ball.

The obstacle often confronted by the robots was the process to detect the ball and direct it to the goal. It often wasted time since the robot took very long time to detect the ball and direct it out of the field. A judge of KRSBI Endra Pitowarno stated that it was the challenges they ought to figure out. “The condition is the challenges for the robots to detect the ball, moreover if the ball is far from the robots,” said Endra. He added that the speed of the robots detecting the ball and goal hinged on the camera put in the robots. “The better resolution the robot has, the faster it detects the ball,” he inserted.

Furthermore, there were 12 matches in the first round. The second and third qualification round would be conducted on Saturday afternoon and evening. Then, eight teams, two teams from each group, would go to the quarter final on Sunday (14/6).
