MMR Lecturers of UMY Train People to Preserve Health trough Daily Activities

Health is one of important aspects in life that requires serious maintenance. However, many Indonesian people still live in poverty and poor health conditions.  happens in Melikan Gedong, Wonogiri, Jawa Tengah. Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) responded the problem by conducting an empowerment program. UMY held training to help people of Melikan Gedong preserve their health on Tuesday (26/2).

The training was conducted by Master of Hospital Management (MMR) of UMY. This program was participated by seven MMR lecturers, namely Dr. dr. Arlina Dewi, M.Kes., AAK, Dr. Elsye Maria Rosa, M.Kep., Dr. Qurratul Aini, M.Kes., Dr. dr. Nur Hidayah, M.M., Winny Setyonugroho, Ph.D, Dr. Firman Pribadi, M.Si and dr. Merita Aini, MMR. There were also two MMR staffs joining the program.

Dr. dr. Arlina Dewi, M.Kes, Head of the department stated, “It is an annual program of MMR. Our main theme is “Pemberdayaan Masyarakat untuk Hidup Lebih Sehat dan Sejahtera” (Community Empowerment for a Prosperous and Healthy Life). We hope that people can improvise their daily activities so that it will affect their health.” She continued, “Our program covers Elderly Stroke Prevention Exercise by dr. Arlina, Hand Hygiene by dr. Winny Setyonugroho, and Islamic preaching with a theme of “Attitude and Behavior in Disaster Prevention” by dr. Nur Hidayah. After that, there were health screening and medical check-ups, including blood sugar, blood pressure and psychological check-ups by dr. Elsye Maria and dr. Qurratul Aini. These programs were set to improve people’s awareness of physical and spiritual health.”

Alina also delivered that MMR also provided a livestock assistance for people in Melikan Gesong. She added, “Besides providing health assistance, we involve ourselves in economic empowerment through chicken livestock. Hopefully, the assistance will provide more capitals and promote economic activities of people in Melikan Gedong.”
