Four UMY Postgraduate Programs Included in the 2020 LPDP Recipients’ List of Desired University

Registration for Education Fund Management Institution (LPDP) Scholarships under the Ministry of Finance has reopened. This year LPDP provides tuition support for 42 domestic universities and 275 foreign universities. 65 percent of the scholarships will be awarded to students who registered for higher education in the country, and the rest for the students who registered for foreign universities. One of the universities that are supported by the 2020 LPDP tuition fee is Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. A total of four study programs from the UMY Postgraduate Masters are included in the list of LPDP recipient destinations, namely the Master of Governmental Science Study Program, Master of International Relations, Master of Nursing and Master of Hospital Administration.

Prof. Dr. Achmad Nurmandi, MSc, the UMY Vice-rector for Cooperation and International Affairs explained that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Finance only opened two types of scholarships, namely LPDP Scholarships for World Major Universities (PTUD) and LPDP Educators Scholarships. “The PTUD scholarship is intended for Indonesian citizens who have received Unconditional Letter of Admission/Acceptance from world’s highest ranked universities to pursue master and doctoral education. Meanwhile, the educator scholarships are issued for teachers who teach schools at the Ministry of Education and Culture who already have a Unique Number of Educators and Education Personnel (NUPTK), and for permanent lecturers at universities within the Ministry of Education and Culture, and the Ministry of Religion which already has a National Lecturer Identification Number (NIDN),” he explained when interviewed on Wednesday (7/10).

According to Nurmandi, The LPDP scholarship registration for the four UMY master study programs is adjusted to the LPDP scholarship registration schedule issued by the Indonesian Ministry of Finance, which is from October 6 to October 20, 2020. The registration requirements also refer to the scholarship registration requirements issued by the LPDP, which consists of general requirements and special requirements for applicants for the LPDP PTUD scholarship.

LPDP registration opens on Tuesday (6/10), with the following schedule:

The following are the general requirements for the 2020 LPDP Scholarship Registration

1. Indonesian citizen

2. Has completed a diploma 4 (D4) or bachelor (S1) study program for a master scholarship; master study program (S2) for Doctoral scholarships; or diploma four (D4 / bachelor degree (S1) for immediate Doctorates with the following conditions:

– Domestic universities that are accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT)

– Domestic official tertiary institutions, or foreign universities recognized by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, or the Indonesian Embassy in the country of origin of the tertiary institution.

3. Not currently taking a degree or non degree study master or doctoral program in both domestic and overseas universities.

4. Attach a letter of recommendation with the following criteria:

– Letters of recommendation from academics and from superiors for those who are currently working;

– Letter of recommendation from 2 academics for those who are currently not working

5. Scholarships are only for regular classes

6. Fill out personal profile on the online registration form

7. Write a personal statement

8. Write a study plan for a master’s degree or a research proposal for a doctorate

9. Write a commitment plan for their return to Indonesia (if you take a scholarship abroad) and write a contribution plan in Indonesia post-study

The PTUD scholarship is intended for Indonesian citizens who have obtained an Unconditional Letter of Admission/Acceptance from the world’s highest ranked Universities to pursue master and doctoral education levels. PTUD scholarships are awarded for a single degree Master Program with a maximum study duration of 24 months, or a single degree Doctoral Program with a maximum study duration of 60 months. The criteria for applicants for the LPDP scholarship program are as follows: First, applicants for PTUD scholarships can only choose one university and study program according to the Unconditional LoA uploaded on the registration application. Second, BPI PTUD applicants have not started their studies and are only allowed to start studies in 2021. Third, BPI PTUD applicants who have an Unconditional LoA which stated that their study starts in 2020, must postpone their studies and start studies in 2021 and attach a letter stating they are delaying their studies, and upload the letter with their Unconditional LoA.
