UMY Sent a Team to the “Economical Electric Car” Contest in Malang

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta sent a team of students to compete in the Economical Electric Car Contest (KMHE) after sending a team in the previous iteration of the competition several years ago. the KMHE 2019 team is called KHAD Eco Team, who managed to pass the second selection in the previous competition. The team is named KHAD after Kyai Haji Ahmad Dahlan.

KMHE is an annual, national-level competition hosted by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) as a place where students can test their creativity in creating renewable energy innovations. KMHE focuses on the energy efficiency of student-made cars, something they have undoubtedly learn about in their classes.

The KMHE contest is divided into two categories, namely Urban and Prototype. The cars themselves are divided into four classes based on their motors. The classes are Gasoline Internal Combustion Motors, Ethanol Internal Combustion Motors, Diesel Internal Combustion Motors, and Electrical Motors.

The contest will take place from the 24th to the 28th of September 2019, and will be participated by 640 students from 80 teams from 45 universities from all across Indonesia. UMY’s KHAD team chose to participate in the Electric Prototype category. The team consist of 7 core members and 9 external members namely Muhammad Asidik Awaludin, Yusuf Kurniawan, David Wahyudi, Husni Asnawi, Muhammad Rismauji, Ahmad Yusuf, Rakha Ardi Nugraha, Viki Junanto, Derasta Priatna, Muhammad Aldiansyah, Fikri Maulana M, Fauzan Anjarico, Anggara Dwi Yudha, Akbar Afrizal, Ujang Hidayat, and Hamid Zuhri. Rama okta Wiyagi, ST., M.Eng. as well as staff from the UMY Student and Alumni Development Office (LPKA) atikha Rizdiana Dewi, SE, MM., Wahyu Sari Ningsih, ST. and Muhisam as supervisors.

“UMY’s Participation in this year’s competition is important to promote student creativity in creating environmentally-friendly innovation and contributing in innovations that can help the public. As a distinguished campus of the national level, UMY’s participation in KMHE 2019 will also strengthen the reputation and achievement of its student activities,” stated the head of LPKA UMY, Faris Al-Fadhat, Ph.D. When contacted during the KMHE 2019 opening ceremony on Tuesday (24/9) in Universitas Negeri Malang (UM)

According to the ranking released by Kemenristekdikti in 2019, UMY’s student activity achievement ranked 24th among all national universities. UMY’s rank is the highest among all Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah universities.
