UMY Cooperates with STIA Amuntai

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) always provides occasions to cooperate with all parties committing to enhancing educational quality. On Thursday (23/1) at A.R. Fachruddin A, UMY welcomed a visit by Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Administrasi (STIA) Amuntai and discussed educational cooperation.

Both parties talked about educational development such as information system management, teacher professional development, students, and tricks to collaborate with other institutions.

Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. stated that it was a great stage for STIA Amuntai to improve its educational quality. “To develop higher education entails understanding of each aspect since we often comprehend theories, but we cannot implement them. We have to serve our students with the best education so that innovation should always be undertaken. Higher education is not a name so that improvements are essential,” he declared.

Gunawan exemplified that UMY possesses planned programs to be a sociopreneurial university. “In 2040, education at UMY enables students to be not only scientists but also sociopreneurs. UMY would like to create independent individuals through socio engineering, and later they can flourish community. That is an effort of UMY in next twenty years,” he explained.

Furthermore, both parties signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in some areas as education, teaching, research, community service, and other activities.

Additionally, Head of the STIA Amuntai expected that the visit could be a good beginning for the cooperation. “I wish that the cooperation can be sustainable since our mission is to educate generation of this nation in Kalimantan Selatan,” he hoped.
