Financial Aid

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), through Baitul Maal wa Tamwil (BMT), has provided financial aid since 2012. The student financial aid mechanism is divided into tuition fee loans and student loans for academic amenities.

  1. Tuition Fee Loans

BMT of UMY provides student loans for tuition fee. The main requirements are that a student’s parents agree with the loan proposal, and the student possesses a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 (4.00 scale). The other requirements are written as follows:

  1. Filling a form of student loans (Students can take the form at BMT of UMY, A.R. Fachruddin B on the ground floor)
  2. Copy of identity card (proof of citizenship) and student identity card.
  3. Copy of study plan and academic transcript
  4. Copy of parents’ identity card (proof of citizenship)
  5. Copy of a family member certificate
  6. Copy of a registration form
  7. Copy of a tuition payment slip

Tuition fee loans will be provided each semester during tuition payment period. After submitting all of the requirements, students are required to gain Dean’s approval.

Afterwards, students should process the loan repayment for five months so that it is expected that they can repay the loans in one semester and can propose to obtain the other student loans for the next semester.

The number of students proposing student loans is increasing each year. There were 88 students in 2012, 113 students in 2013, 111 students in 2014, and 158 students in 2015.

  1. Student Loans for Academic Amenities

BMT of UMY also provides student loans for academic amenities such as laptops, motorcycles, and mobile phones. The loans are expected to support students’ learning needs.

The main requirements are: students must have completed a minimum of two semesters of study and have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 (4.00 scale). The students must have also paid the tuition fee of semester when they apply for the loan. The loan repayment depends on students’ study period.

Other requirements are as follows:

  1. Copy of a tuition payment slip
  2. 20% of down payment

BMT of UMY has also provided vehicle cares during semester break since 2015. The engine of the vehicles will be heated every day. The vehicle care fee is 7,000 rupiahs/day and the cares do not have limit of days.
