Journal publications, scientific papers, and research results need to be understood by librarians and lecturers who are carrying research. The Indonesian government, through the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, facilitates those who wish to publish their work by building the Science and Technology Index (SINTA). Given the importance of this system for lecturers or librarians, the Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta library held an online seminar through the Zoom application, namely All About SINTA, Scopus, Scimago on Friday (7/8).
Dr. Purwani Istiana, SIP, M.A, librarian of Universitas Gadjah Mada and a speaker in this webinar, gave an explanation of the procedure for creating a SINTA account to publish scientific works and the role of librarians in improving institutional performance.
“It is a must for Librarians, especially in UMY, to improve the performance of the institution, through the number of scientific papers published in SINTA and Scopus. Calculate how many UMY journals have been accredited, and how to improve it so that campus performance can increase and be seen,” she said.
Purwani explained that in a SINTA account, we can also see the national ranking of institutions related to their journal publications, and find out how many Scopus indexed journals a faculty has. This needs to be known so that if there are things that are not sufficient, it can be fixed, because journal publications are continuous.
“Here we can see the number of Scopus indexed journal publications in the last three years. We can find out the number of journal publications either per faculty or even per study program. Later we can evaluate the journals that are not yet complete, then we can contact people related to the journals to perfect the journals so that they can be properly verified,” she added.
Then she explained journal performance based on SINTA accreditation. “As is known, the accreditation categories are SINTA 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. SINTA 1 is the SINTA with the highest points. When your journals have a score of 85-100, they will be accredited SINTA 1, and it will have a big impact on the institutions they carry, “said Purwani. (Hbb)
