CDC of UMY Conducts CV Writing and Interview Training

To enhance quality of graduates, Career Development Center (CDC) of Student and Alumni Development Office (LPKA) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) conducted CV writing and interview training on Tuesday (24/7) at A.R. Fachruddin A.

Head of LPKA of UMY Muhammad Faris Alfadhats, Ph.D. stated that the training was a program to prepare for UMY fresh graduates. “They will experience different conditions such as confronting a workplace atmosphere and getting involved in community so that the training is important,” he declared.

Training participants were graduates in 2017-2018 from all departments. They had registered and selected. Besides, the training speakers were psychologists from Engineering Career Center (ECC) of University of Gadjah Mada (UGM) Gita Aulia Nurani, M.Psi. and Ria Aprilia Arientanie, M.Psi.

Gita explained that a great CV is a CV you make it by yourself, not using a template of an application. “There are freely accessible CV, but a good CV should reflect ourselves,” she said.

She added that a good curriculum vitae (CV) encompasses all essential information. “The CV should be adjusted to our area of interest, whether it is a creative industry or it is only a requirement,” asserted Gita.

Meanwhile, Ria talked about an interview. She told that an interview is about what we have written on the CV. There are a number of interview types, namely a direct interview, undirected interview, behavioral interview and telephone interview. “Each interview has dissimilar preparation so that you have to know your strengths and weaknesses,” she emphasized.
