2000 Participants Enliven Family Day of UMY’s 38th Anniversary

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) conducts series of events to celebrate the 38th anniversary. One of the notable agendas is Family Day was held on Thursday (7/3) in Sportorium of UMY and was enlivened by more than 2000 participants, consisting of lecturers, students, academic staffs, employees, and alumni of UMY. The Family Day aimed to reinforce sense of kinship among UMY members and pleasantly presented various activities, namely color run, bazaar, social service, and drawing competition for children.

Faris Al-Fadhat, Ph.D, Chief of Committee of UMY’s 38th Anniversary Commemoration expressed that there were over 2000 participants joining the color run. The committee also provided 111 door prizes, with two motorcycles as the main prizes. Faris continued, “The Color Run was available for all people, including children and the elderly. It is an exciting event of Family Day with hundreds of prizes so that people are amused.”

Faris added, “Being almost 40 years old, UMY surely will confront more hurdles in the future. Hence, every year, UMY should conduct a program to reinforce relationships of all UMY elements to achieve a vision and missions of UMY.”

Furthermore, Rector of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. expressed a huge gratitude for all people who have put trust in UMY for the past 38 years. Gunawan conveyed, “Happy 38th Anniversary for all. Hopefully, we can continue to commit best for UMY and Muhammadiyah. May Allah accept our good intention for benefiting all people.”

Meanwhile, some participants revealed their impressions of Family Day as a form of appreciation for the anniversary commemoration. Tulus, a participant who also works as a cleaning service of UMY, uttered that he was very delighted to receive a motorcycle as his door prize. He inserted, “Alhamdullilah, I am very pleased to have this door prize. I present this gift to my beloved child. I pray that UMY will always remain the best.”
