UMY Provides Scholarships for 61 Freshmen

61 students achieved scholarship decree from Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) in parent-teacher conference at Sportorium of UMY on Monday (5/9).  One of the scholarships was Bidik Misi which is cooperation between UMY and Ministry of Research and Technology of Higher Education (Kementistek Dikti).

Head of Admission Office, Dr. Siti Dyah Handayani, S.E., M.M., mentioned that one of the scholarships was Muhammadiyah’s Doctor scholarship. UMY has provided the scholarship for six years that there are seven awardees each year. “The number of awardees is escalating each year. The scholarship was firstly given to three medical students, but the scholarship is now offered to five medical students and two dentistry students,” Dyah informed.

The five medical students are Bobby Ardiansyah Rina, M. Khakim Abdillah, Uliniha Makrifah, Satria Al-Fajar Syaifudin, and Ulfah Zahidah, while the two dentistry students are Fara Amrina Revada and Wahyu Huri Saputra.

“Besides, Bidik Misi Scholarship is awarded to 36 freshmen, and it was provided for 14 to 40 students. The awardees should be accepted at an ‘A’-accredited department of UMY cooperating with Dikti. Islamic Faculty students may not apply the scholarship since the faculty was under by Department of Religion,” told Dyah, who is also an Economics lecturer.

The other three new scholarships launched in were KAUM (Muhammadiyah’s Cadre) scholarship, Hafidz Muhammadiyah scholarship, and Prestasi Unggulan Muhammadiyah scholarship. The KAUM scholarship is in the form of free tuition fees for four-year study evaluated each semerster, and is offered high school students possessing a lot of achievements, being active in Muhammadiyah organizations, and bearing the name of Muhammadiyah. The KAUM scholarship is given to twelve students.

The twelve students are Rizky Anfasa Farras Mada (Information Technology), Putri Hapsari Setyaningsih (Information Technology), Teguh Khairullah (Islamic Broadcasting), Azhfar Muhammad Robbani (Islamic Broadcasting), Nur Fitriani (Islamic Studies), Muflih Hadianto (Islamic Studies), Muhammad Rasyid Ridho (Islamic Studies), Husni Hidayatul Haqqiyah (Islamic Banking and Finance), Muhammad Ghozi Al Fayyadh (Arabic Language Education), Ukhti Istislamulillah (Arabic Language Education), and Ade Dimas Rizky Saputra (Automotive Mechanical Engineering).

Additionally, Haifidz Muhammadiyah scholarship is afforded for students who are able to memorize minimum 5 juz of Al-Qur’an. It is given to five students that two of them are able to memorize 30 juz. They are Salma Fathiyaturrahmah A. (Information Technology), Khoirummuzaidah (Management), Fathimatuz Zahra (Islamic Broadcasting), Fadilah Arsi (Islamic Studies),), dan Khodijah Muslihah (English Language Education).  The scholarship is in term of free tuition fee for four-year study evaluated four years.

Moreover, the Prestasi Unggulan Muhammadiyah scholarship is awarded to Teungku Muhammad Hasan As’ari, an Accounting student. “This scholarship is provided a high school student gaining national and international achievements of sports, sciences, arts, and others. Teungku achieved the second runner up of national karate competition, and he obtains the scholarship in term of free tuition fees for one-year study,” Dyah uttered.
