Board of executive of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) visited two universities in Europe, namely Universite Savoie Mont Blanc in France and Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, on 26-30 May 2016. UMY also signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with both universities.

Head of International Relations Office, Ir. Tony Hariadi, M.T. told that who had the visit were Vice Chancellor I of UMY Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P., Vice Chancellor III of UMY Sri Atmaja P. Rosyidi, S.T. MSc.Eng., Ph.D., P.E., Vice Dean Faculty of UMY for Cooperation and Student Affairs Slamet Riyadi, Ph.D., and he himself, Ir. Tony Hariadi, M.T.

Tony informed that UMY’s party came to Universite Sovie Mont Blanc located in Annecy-le-Vieux and Chambery. “They performed U to U (University to University-ed.) cooperation, and signed MoU that students of Universite Savoie Mont Blanc will have an internship at UMY,” Tony stated.

UMY will also invite professors of Universite Savoie Mont Blanc to be the speakers of Muhammadiyah Disaster Management Summer School in August 2016. “UMY will later sent the lecturers to pursue their doctoral degree and to conduct research,” Tony asserted.

Besides, UMY had signed MoU with Eindhoven University of Technology in 2006. Since the MoU was valid till 2015, both parties extended the MoU. “The cooperation with Eindhoven University of Technology is dealing with staff mobility, joint research, joint conference, and others,” Tony mentioned.

In October and November 2016, three lecturers of UMY will carry out research at Eindhoven University of Technology. They were Ir. Nafi Ananda Utama, M.S., Slamet Riyadi, Ph.D., and Ir. Tony K. Hariadi, M.T. “In 2017, Eindhoven University of Technology and UMY will organize joint conference, namely ICOSI,” Tony ended.
