UMY Conducts an Inauguration and Hippocratic Oath of 63 Doctors

Medical and Health Science Faculty (FKIK) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakrta (UMY) conducted an Inauguration and Hippocratic Oath of batch 48 on Saturday (23/1) at Sportorium of UMY. It was attended by Muhammadiyah DIKTI, Head of Indonesia Doctor Association (IDI) of DIY, Rector of UMY, Dean of FKIK of UMY, family of the prospective doctors.

There were 63 students passing Medical Student Exam (UKMPPD). The exam was considered quite hard since only 1,500 of 3,000 participants can pass it. The UKMPPD itself comprises of two tests, namely Computer Based Test (CBT) or theoretical exam, and Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) or practicum exam. The UKMPPD was only employed CPT, but since 2013 DIKTI has used the OSCE. The UKMPPS aims at assessing the doctors’ capability and it is expected to enhance Indonesian health.

Dean of FKIK dr. Ardi Pramono delivered a remark that a new expectation and responsibility of Indonesia health is on the new doctors. The title means that they have rights, responsibility and authority to maintain patients’ health. “In this BPJS era, doctors of primary care become the spearhead of health care prioritizing promoting and preventive management,” he declared.

Additionally, Rector of UMY Prof. Bambang Cipto advised the doctors to serve community based on Muhammadiyah values, ‘hidup-hidupilah Muhammadiyah, jangan mencari kehidupan di Muhammadiyah’ (live Muhammadiyah, and do not look for life in Muhammadiyah). “Since you graduate from UMY so that you have to serve Muhamamdiyah. Wherever you get a job, you ought always contribute to Muhamamdiyah. The principles of UMY in working are spiritual, emotional, and intelligence quotient,” he conveyed.
