UMY Becomes the First Indonesian Partner of Kanazawa Technical College

Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakata (UMY) Dr. Ir. Gunawan Budiyanto, M.P. and Head of International Affairs of UMY Ir. Tony K. Hariadi, M.Eng. signed an agreement with Kanazawa Technical College (KTC), Japan on Monday (6/3). UMY is the first Indonesian partner of KTC.

In an interview on (9/3), Tony told that the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (UMY) is expected to be able to provide better occasions for UMY to do student mobility. He added that UMY also signed a MoU with Kanazawa Institute of Technology (KIT), which is a part of the KTC.

“The agreement states that students of UMY will study at KIT and KTC for six weeks, while students of KIT and KTC will perform community services at UMY. Besides, there will be teaching staff exchange from UMY to KIT and KTC for weeks and research collaboration on learning system of Department of Engineering,” mentioned Tony.

Tony informed that the programs will be commenced next semester. “We will begin the joint research, student exchange, and faculty exchange next semester,” he said.

“The more cooperation between UMY and foreign universities have, the more occasions of student exchange for UMY’s students. Hence, students should prepare themselves early on and enhance their capability so that they can pass selections of student exchange programs,” Tony advised.
