UM Pare-Pare Visits UMY

Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) welcomes a visit from Universitas Muhammadiyah Pare-Pare (UM Pare-Pare) on Monday (26/3) at a meeting hall of A.R. Fachruddin A of UMY. The visit aimed to broaden knowledge of the institution management and to learn information technology at UMY.

A group of people from UM Pare-Pare comprised of Regional Chairman of Muhammadiyah (PDM) of Pare-Pare City Drs. H. Sawaty Lamb, M.Pd.; Head of the Board of Trustees of UM Pare-Pare Ir. H. Yasser Latief, CPA; Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of UM Pare-pare Drs. Hizbullah; Secretary of the Board of Trustees of UM Pare-Pare Umar, S.Pd., M.Pd.; Rector of UM Pare-Pare Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Siri Dangnga, M.S. Deputy Secretary of UM Pare-Pare Drs. H. Abd. Majid Madani, M.Pd.; Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of UM Pare-Pare; H. Munsyir Hanafi; a member of the Board of Trustees of UM Pare-Pare Dra. Hj. Norma Patiori; and Executive Secretary of the Board of Trustees of UM Pare-Pare Abdul Rahman S.Pd., M.Pd.

Head of the Board of Trustees of UM Pare-Pare Ir. H. Yasser Latief, CPA believed that UMY is a highly national reputable university so that UM Pare-Pare parties decided to visit it and would like to know roles of the Board of Trustees as well as all leaderships of UMY in academic areas.

Yasser also thought that UMY possesses incredible information technology. “We are interested in the technology and we wish that we could apply it at UM Pare-Pare,” he told. He also expected that the visit could be followed up to conduct cooperation. UMY can supervise UM Pare-Pare to be better.

Meanwhile, Rector of UM Pare-Pare Prof. Dr. H. Muhammad Siri Dangnga, M.S. told the university is a new university and has been established for 18 years. It was an academy. “UM Pare-Pare has seven faculties and one postgraduate program,” informed Prof. Muhammad. He also said that UM Pare-Pare would like to see the layout of UMY’s buildings.

Besides, Secretary of the Board of Trustees of UMY Drs. Sukiman, M.A. explained that UMY as a leading Muhammadiyah university possesses several businesses to fund UMY activities. For student activities, we have programs to promote Islam and Muhammadiyah to the students. “KIAI (Islamic training, -ed.) is a compulsory program for freshmen of UMY. They learn Islam and Muhammadiyah teaching and undertake supporting activities,” he mentioned.
