Dr. Haedar Nashir, M.Si. and Dra. Siti Nordjannah Djohantini, MM, M.Si. were elected as the chairperson of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah 2015-2020. The circumstance reminded many people of the era of K.H. Ahmad Dahlan and Siti Walidah Ahmad. People expected that the can bring positive impacts to not only Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah but also Univesitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) since both are the lecturers of Social and Political Faculty (FISIPOL) and Economic Faculty (FE) of UMY. Dr. Haedar Nashir has become a lecturer of Governmental Studies of UMY since 1992 while Dra. Siti Noodjannah has become a lecturer of Management Department of UMY since 1988.
After recognizing the yield of the election, Rector of UMY Prof. Dr. Bambang Cipto, M.A. wished that Dr. Haedar can inspire all academicians of UMY. Being proposed as the chairman of Muhammadiyah displayed that Dr. Haedar has actively not only become a lecturer of FISIPOL UMY but also had essential roles at Muhammadiyah.
Prof. Bambang, the lecturer of International Relations of UMY, also hoped that it can bring positive impacts for the university. He contended that students of UMY ought to acknowledge their achievement being the chairperson of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah. Students have to recognize the leaders of Muhammadiyah are lecturers of UMY so that they can follow the lead and can be motivated. I wish that all academicians are more encouraged because the lecturers of UMY become the leaders of the second greatest organization in Indonesia,” he uttered.
Furthermore, the same expectation was also conveyed by Dean of FISIPOL Ali Muhammad, S.IP., M.A., Ph.D. and Dean Faculty of Economics Dr. Nano Prowoto, M.Si. in an interview on Saturday (8/9). Dr. Nano Prawoto argued that it was not surprising that Dra. Siti Noordjannah was elected as the chairperson of Aisyiyah 2015-2020. In fact, Dra. Siti Noordjannah is a senior lecturer of FE UMY and has actively joined at Aisyiyah. “Her contribution to Aisyiyah has been long so that she deserves to be the chief. Additionally, she also has excellent academic capability,” he asserted.
Nano hoped that the students of Economic Faculty will be motivated to perform their best. “The election showed that Economic Faculty of UMY has excellent human resources at economic field and the community,” he conveyed. He also wished that Aisyiyah and Economic Faculty of UMY can cooperate to undertake research of economic development.
Moreover, Ali Muhammad, S.IP., M.A., Ph.D. inserted that Dr. Haedar Nashir is one of the best lecturers at FISIPOL and Muhammadiyah. “His being elected as the chairman of Muhammadiyah, we expected that Muhammadiyah, business, and Universitas Muhammadiyah can foster,” he hoped.
Ali also wished that both of them succeed being the chief of Muhammadiyah for the next five years. “Their leadership is expected to give immense contribution to this nation and the world since there are a lot of complicated issues like injustice, poverty, corruption, education, and others. We are also grateful because Muhammadiyah Congress was successfully conducted. It indicated the developed democracy and maturity of Muhammadiyah,” he ended.
