IPIEF UMY Students Visit PCIM

Students of International Program for Islamic Economics & Finance (IPIEF) visited Malaysian Branch Executive (PCIM) on 19 August. The visit aimed to encourage IPIEF students to learn culture and condition of another country. It was also an effort to achieve a tagline of UMY as a ‘Muda Mendunia’ university.

An Economics lecturer of UMY Dimas Bagus Wirantaka accompanying the students told that PCIM is considered to have the greatest position in Muhammadiyah internationalization programs. “The visit to the PCIM is one of the internship programs of IPIEF students,” stated Dimas on a release sent on Thursday (29/8).

In the visit, IPIEF UMY delegates were welcomed by Chairman of the PCIM Dr. Sonny Zulhuda. Dr. Sonny, who is also a lecturer at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), mentioned some important points in his remark.

“First, regarding the historical aspect, Dr. Sonny informed that Muhammadiyah was officially established in Malaysia in 2007. Second, he talked about the establishment of University Consortium Muhammadiyah Malaysia in Johor. Third, he gave advice on the spirit of sacrifice and struggle, especially for Muhammadiyah higher education students, “added Dimas.

Meanwhile, IPIEF students also had an occasion to present their study on Sharia Banking Development in Indonesia in an ISEFID (Islamic Economic Forum for Indonesian Development) Forum.
