Equipment of ABU Robocon 2015 Is Well-Prepared

Equipment for welcoming participants and spectators of ABU Robocon 2015 has been provided well. One of the foremost equipment is electricity. A coordinator of the electrical equipment Ir. Agus Jamal informed that his team has coordinated with PLN (State-owned Electricity Firm) of Bantul to assist for the ABU Robocon 2015 conducted on 22-23 August 2015 at Sportorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY).

“The arrangements are prioritized at Sportorium as the contest venue. We have set well any preparations regarding electricity like lamp, AC, sound system, and many others,” he mentioned.

He conveyed that the electrical power has been provided as follows 23,000 watts for arena lamp, 300,000 watts for AC, 20,000 watts for sound systems, and 19,000 watts for building lighting. “The electricity is quite adequate, Insya Allah,” he continued.

On the other hand, some barriers may be found for the Robocon. “Anticipating any obstacles, for instance the electricity unexpectedly shuts down, we have prepared 150-KVA electrical backup to PLN and 500-KVA genset if the need of electrical power at Sportorium elevates,” he stated.

The other prepared equipment is dealing with public or spectators.
“We have arranged 5,000 spectator seats and a parking area accommodating 200 vehicles. The calculation may be accurate, Insya Allah” he told.

He also expressed that the preparations were much easier since his team had experience in preparing Indonesia Robot Contest (KRI). “If there is a problem, it can be overcome. This contest only comprises of one category while KRI encompassed five categories so that the arrangements are getting simpler even though the ABU Robocon participants are from several countries,” he said.

Furthermore, chief of organizing committee of UMY Slamet Riyadi, S.T., M.T., Ph.D. confessed that UMY’s arrangements for welcoming ABU Robocon 2015 are easier than preparations for KRI 2015, yet the barriers are bigger. “For one reason, we represent not only this university but also our nation, Indonesia. Besides, most of the participants come from overseas so that it must be challenging. Hence, may this contest run successfully,” he expected.
