Indonesia Robot Contest (KRI) 2018 also presented robots by Department of Research and Development (Dislitbang) of Indonesian Army (TNI AD). Exhibited on a lobby of Sportorium of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) on Tuesday-Friday (10-13/7), the robots were ROV Sonar Robot, ‘Lesan Tembak Robot’ for shooting practice, and remote control sentry gun.
A representative of TNI AD Mayor (Inf) Rudy Heru Yudono stated that robotics in TNI aims to protect each personnel. “For instance, Kompi Cihandak’s duties are dealing with detonators such the use of ROV sonar as a scout to detect a suspected stuff in a place. Robotics which we develop focuses on the application of non-slick technology such a drone controlled through a remote,” he told.
Rudy, who is also Head of Laboratory of Dislitbang of TNI, discussed the implementation robotics in TNI with KRI participants. He advised them to always share knowledge. “We may not rely on what we has already had on our mind if we become researchers. We should find out problems so that we can create the solution. By discussing with others, we can solve a lot of issues, but we have to be open-minded and receive critics when having a discussion,” he emphasized.
