Advertisements of UMY Won Bronzes in Pinasthika Creative Festival 2016

Announced Saturday (5/11), two advertisements of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) achieved bronze medals in the 17th Pinsthika Creative Festival conducted on 2-6 November 2016.

The two advertisements were Safety Riding (fun version) and Al-Qur’an Festival. The advertisements were made by Otak Atik Otak (OAO) community, an advertisement-making community, comprising twelve students in Yogyakarta that eight of them are UMY students.

Erwan Sudiwijaya, S.Sos., MBA, a OAO mentor as well as an advertising lecturer of UMY, informed that there were three advertisements of UMY joining the Pinasthika competition. “In the end of October, we submitted three ads, namely graduation version of safety riding, fun version of safety riding, Al-Qur’an Festival. They were included in ‘Baskara’ category or advertising agency besides Jakarta city. Two of the three ads won bronze medals,” Erwan told.

He asserted that in there were seven champions of Baskara category in TV ads. The competition judging did not rely on the winner, runner up, and second runner up, but it used a system of gold, silver, and bronze. “There is a standard to gain gold, silver, and bronze. If the score of two ads is included in gold category, both ads will get gold. In the TV ads of Pinasthika Award, there were four bronzes, two silvers, and one gold,” Erwan said.

“UMY has showed that the university through Public Relations Office possesses good communication strategies acknowledged by Phinastika Award 2016. I wish that these two advertisements could enhance the quality of communication strategies of the office. For Phinastika festivals, this is the first time that UMY won,” Erwan told.

Meanwhile, Communication Science students of UMY, Randi Ade Wijaya and Ikhfan Afrido, also obtained bronze for ad student category for their ad entitled ‘Sabang-Merauke’.

Erwan also mentioned several awards of the 17th Pinasthika Creative Festival for Baskara category gained by UMY’s students written as follows:
