610 Students Graduated from UMY

All graduates assembled at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta to attend graduation ceremony of vocational, undergraduate, and magister program period II academic year 2014/2015. It was conducted on Saturday (14/02) in Sportorium UMY. This period UMY awarded a degree to 610 graduates consisting of  8 graduates of vocational program, 524 graduates of undergraduate program and 78 graduates of magister program.

On a remark of Rector of UMY, Prof. Dr. Bambang Cipto, M.A., it was stated not only congratulation and advice but also students’ achievements. He told graduates and their parents/guardians that UMY reached a number of achievements including recent achievements.

Since UMY established, according to Prof. Bambang, UMY has attained gratified result both academic and nonacademic aspect. In the beginning of this year, UMY achieved 3 international awards. “I am very proud of UMY’s students because they have made a lot of accomplishments during their study. For instance, students of Engineering Faculty won ASEAN Design Competition, students of Law Faculty would represent Indonesia in Nebraska, and Warung Prancis of UMY (a mini library) was selected as the best Warung Prancis in Indonesia. Those are very pleased achievements,” he conveyed.

Prof. Bambang congratulated all graduates and encouraged them to move forward, keep learning, and attempt to be valuable people for this nation. Additionally, his other essential advice was that they could be pride of UMY in Indonesia and overseas.

Besides, the other speech was delivered by Lucitania Rizky, S.IP., a student of International Relations (HI) as well as the best graduate of bachelor’s degree. She was honored to enroll at UMY for her higher education. “I perceive at UMY where I gain knowledge in not only academic but also religion aspect,” she asserted.

Luci added that it was not easy to pursue this degree because of many efforts to carry out. “We ought to be grateful for what we obtain today. We are supposed to be thankful since we could pass this life cycle to accomplish this degree. This is our huge path as intellects to always go forward,” she expressed.

Luci advised graduates not to surrender easily to a reality that they would confront new cooperative situations no matter what they should pass them. “Moreover, we are required to always compete with unacquainted people. Thus, we have not to be pessimist people,” she inserted.

This period, four students achieved award. First, Lucitania, S.IP was selected as the best graduate of bachelor’s degree with GPA of 3.99. Second, Dhety Chusumastuti, M.M. was the best graduate of master’s degree with GPA of 3.91. Third, Syahrial Shaddiq, S.T. was the fastest graduate having accomplished his study at UMY for 3 years, 1 month, 5 days, with GPA of 3.89. Last, Astri Yansrika, S.E. was the youngest graduate at the age of 19 years, 5 months, 29 days and with GPA of 3.92.
