ABU Robocon Turns a Benchmark for Upcoming Technology

A lot of innovations emerge due to the development of technology. For instance, many robots are coined to assist or substitute humans’ duties so that they will most likely foster more sophisticated and smarter. A number of robot contests in several countries can be a benchmark of the technology development.

President of Asia-Broadcasting Union (ABU) Cho Dae-hyun officially declared that a lot of robot contests like the 14th ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2015 become the benchmark of technology sophistication. He argues that the 14th ABU Robocon is the basis to evolve the future technology. “I believe that participants will gain a lot of knowledge from the contest, and the basic theory of technology making will be tested in the contest. I also believe that this ABU Robocon will turn our foundation to create better resources in Asia-Pacific countries,” he conveyed.

Cho Dae-hyun informed that ABU Robocon was firstly conducted in 2012, and has been well-known in the world, especially by students. Hundreds of students from various countries join national ABU Robocon in their own country each year. “They also had contested in their country in 2015, and the final contest is held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Therefore, we encourage all teams of ABU Robocon 2015 to not only compete but also share ideas, innovations, and techniques in designing robots with other teams,” he advised.

Furthermore, Cho Dae-hyun who is also the CEO and President of Korean Broadcasting System (KBS) appreciated Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta and Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), as the host of the contest. He thanked for the endeavor to welcome the ABU Robocon 2015 raising theme robominton. I expect that this ABU Robocon and commitment of committee, from both Indonesia and Tokyo-Japan, can inspire young generation,” he ended.
